ELEPHANTS NEVER SLEEP – Jungle 7″
Fehlproduktion RP-17556 (C-76.10227-01); 1985. Unique sounding Nürnberg/Berlin-based minimal wavePunk trio (think: raw 3-chord punk ala MITTAGSPAUSE melting up with the postPunkish approach of more experimental UK acts ala EYELESS IN GAZA and THEATRE OF HATE in their early days) consisting of the – then – couple Gabriele ‘Gabi’ Richter and Ludwig ‘Luggi’ Thoma (both ex- FIX & FERTIG [a Nürnberg-based MinimalWave band with two great tape-only albums under their belt; not to be confused with the NDW quintet from Gießen of the very same name signed to Intercord]) plus Klaus ‘Luzi’ Loos (ex- MADMEN) with sole release of which 1500 copies were made (most housed in an oversized concert flyer); other songs: Bad Day, Houses Of Motion, War, Time Is Running, Every Morning. ELEPHANTS NEVER SLEEP put the concept of members constantly changing instruments into action, supported Dutch GRUPPO SPORTIVO at the ‘Rote Fabrik’ in Zürich, even tracked down a (lost) video to their still unreleased tune ‘Reach The Sun’, but were hopelessly late for the trend. Ludwig Thoma went on with SOFT TOYS ANIMALS, LUDWIG THOMA GOES POP, HOUSES OF PANCAKES (since 1994), HEIMDALL PROJECT (since 2003), LTJ AQUATIC and LUDWIG THOMA & FRIENDS.
